Watercolour and Graphite Pencil, H43 x W61
Close to the shoreline, this surf painting uses reference from photographs taken at Rye Harbour beach during a storm, in a receding tide where the waves were not huge. It is a close up detail of a breaking and curling wave with interesting shapes. There was little colour although the sun was creating shadows, the subject was perfect for a monochrome tonal painting on Stillman and Birn Beta paper, combining Watercolour with touches of Graphite Pencil.
