A daily, circular walk of about 3 miles has a rich variety of open fields, birch copses, valleys and steep hills. I foraged quietly and hopefully for wild garlic, elder-flowers, blackberries and sloes.
This is one stop in my Lockdown Walk, a young birch copse, quite different from the ancient footpath you stumble down the valley to reach it. Its always cool, and the new spring leaves were bright green and sunlit, and really quiet. Almost ‘cathedral like’ in its welcome and ability to hold. As summer progressed, it became darker, the sun only catching in the heights.
