Embroidery has a rich history. Here, I have transformed tissue paper with machine embroidery and painted them with quality pigments.
They are very fragile until they have received a coat of shellac varnish leaving the surface ready for gilding with Gold Leaf. The feathers are hand stitched onto a backing paper of hot press watercolour paper.
A series of work centred around the Bewick Swan made at the WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre and in the Studio.
