Hand pleated Sumi Chinese paper, stitched with dark grey embroidery thread onto tiny paper panels. These sixteen miniature paper textiles are hand stitched onto watercolour paper and box framed. Inspired by my pencil and charcoal drawings of arable fields and landscapes made in the high Cotswold Hills where I live.
The paper textile is made during the third Lockdown, and underpinned with security and quietness. Living within the restrictions of the pandemic I have witnessed the evidence of hope and love, and this is becoming stronger in its tightened concentration. The piece is intricate with pure simplicity, room and space to breath.
